EVALUATION OF THE INFORMATIVENESS OF BIOMARKERS FOR PYELONEPHRITIS PROGRESSION IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS

The aim of the work is to conduct the analysis and study the correlation between the levels of methylglyoxal, a marker of early protein glycation-β-2-microglobulin – a protein that indicates the presence of damaged renal tubules, and the leukocyte intoxication index in the peripheral blood of somatically healthy people and patients with acute pyelonephritis and type II diabetes mellitus.

The results obtained indicate the presence of a pronounced positive relationship between the indicators of the inflammatory process marker in AP and concomitant diabetes.

Conclusions. A statistically significant increase in the level of MGL and β-2 – microglobulin in blood plasma was established in patients with AP and concomitant diabetes, which indicates the intensification of protein glycation processes in the body and damage to protein ultrastructures in kidney tissues and indicates the important role of concomitant diabetes in the development of functional renal complications in the pathological condition under study. A significant increase in the level of LII in the blood of patients with AP with concomitant diabetes was found, which indicates the pathogenetic role of concomitant diabetes in the development of an unfavorable course of the inflammatory process in the kidneys. The revealed significant correlation coefficient in AP and concomitant diabetes in blood between the levels of MGL and β-2-microglobulin and MGL and the LII index, as well as between the values of β-2-microglobulin and LII, indicates the possibility of using these indicators as biomarkers, in particular β-2-microglobulin and LII, to assess the nature and predict the course of the pathological condition under study.
