The Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine led to significant changes in the life of society, including the education. In 2022/2023 academic year in Odessa National Medical University the elective course «ECG diagnostics in General Practice» was included in the educational program of the students of higher education of the 6th year which was taught at the department of family medicine and polyclinic therapy.
Objectives. Optimization of the elective course «ECG diagnostics in General Practice» teaching considering the difficulties faced by students of higher education and teachers under Martial Law.
Materials and methods. The elective course «ECG diagnostics in General Practice» was teached online at the Department of Family Medicine and Polyclinic Therapy in Odessa National Medical University for 5 groups of medical faculty (89 people) and 5 groups of international faculty (117 persons). Teachers of the department prepared presentations on the topics of the classes, tasks for ongoing control, and also provided an opportunity for online communication in case of students of higher education had questions. To evaluate such implementations, knowledge control was carried out at the beginning and at the end of the course. Also the students of higher education took an anonymous survey after passing the discipline regarding the quality of teaching.
As a result, an improvement in knowledge of students of higher education was noted at the end of the course and 96.1% of them (n = 198) were satisfied with the level of teaching. The obtained results denoted the expediency and effectiveness of the implemented additions.
