THE DYNAMICS OF CONGENITAL MALFORMATIONS FREQUENCY AMONG NEWBORNS FROM THE REGION POLLUTED WITH FLUORINE AND HEAVY METALS’ SALTS

In Sokal district situated in the northwest of Lviv region congenital malformations frequency among newborns has been significantly higher than in other Ukrainian population groups during last 16 years. The territory of this district is polluted with heavy metals’ salts. At the same time teeth enamel hypoplasia epidemic among school-aged children started. After epidemic onset the frequency of birth defects in the district became significantly higher than before the epidemic. The most often registered anomalies were congenital malformations of bone-muscle and sexual systems. All that occurred along with birth rate decrease.
