COAGULATION OF FEEDING VESSELS AND TRANSPUPILLAR THERMOTHERAPY OF SUBRETINAL NEOVASCULAR MEMBRANES

Subretinal neovascular membranes are the main cause of loosing of the central vision in people over fifty years. Transpupillar thermotherapy (TTT) is one of the modern methods of the subretinal neovascular membranes treatment. TTT is a form of the local hyperthermia treatment. At present indocyanine of green and fluoresceine angiographies provide detection of the feeding vessels of the subretinal neovascular membranes. Laser coagulation of the feeding vessels allows stopping the blood flow in the subretinal neovascular membrane, that leads to its death. Our investigation showed possibility of the combine using of the coagulation of the feeding vessels and TTT in the subretinal neovascular membranes treatment. The new combined laser treatment of the subretinal neovascular membranes enables to preserve the central visual function in most patients.
