ENDOTHELIAL DISFUNCTION IN THE AGED PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC HEART FAILURE AGAINST A BACKGROUND OF ISHEMIC HEART DISEASE

137 men at the age of 63–76 years old with IHD and heart failure and 36 healthy persons were examined. High permission of echolocation and dopplerography of brachial artery prior and after temporary occlusion of artery by blood pressure cuff in combination with sublingual nitromint (1 mg) were used to assess endothelial function. An endothelial disfunction (ED) as evident from disturbance of endothelium-dependent relaxation of arteries at relatively preserved endothelium-independent mechanisms was revealed in the patients. ED may be a sensitive marker for high cardiovascular risk in the geriartric patiens with IHD and cardiac insufficiency.
