THE PREVALENCE OF THYROID GLAND PATHOLOGY IN POLTAVA REGION IN THE POST-CHERNOBYL PERIOD AND THE WAYS OF ITS PREVENTION

The study of ecological situation (radioactive background, contents of iodine and fluorine in drinking water) and the prevalence of thyroid gland diseases in Poltava region and in Ukraine for the last twenty years adequately demonstrated that ecological situation in above mentioned region regards as iodine-deficient. The iodine-deficiency is the inductor of hyperplasia, thyroiditis, hypothyroidism and node form pathology of thyroid gland (cancer, adenoma and others). The wide-ranging using of the medication complex as pectic acids, direct antioxidants complex and echinacea extract by way of addition to the nonalcoholic drinks and iodination of the primary foodstuffs allow to reduce the intensification of thyroid pathology in Poltava region.
