The history of percussion is traced from 1826, when Pierre Adolphe Piorry (1794–1879) invented the pleximeter. The basic stages of percussion method history are presented: the P. A. Piorry’s monograph (1828), the Josef von Škoda’s book (1839), Anton Wintrich’s (1841) percussion hammer.
