THE INFLUENCE OF FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITY OF THE SALIVARY GLANDS ON ADAPTATION TO THE REMOVABLE DENTURES

The influence of level of salivation on adaptation to different types of removable dentures is analyzed in the article. The quickest acquired tolerance to the dentures is in persons with the normal level of salivation. The longest period of adaptation is in persons with oligosialia. The denture-carriers suffering from excessive salivation get used to dentures longer than those with a normal one. The amount of dentures does not influence the adaptation term in the people with the normal- and oligosalivia, but it is considerably increased with the presence of two removable dentures especially complete laminar dentures in persons with oligosialia. The level of salivation should be taken into account while choosing the denture construction.
