We analysed the primary results of mass screening of hereditary hypothyreosis launched in five West Ukrainian regions from the beginning of 2006. Five new cases of this severe endocrine disease revealed during screening enriched the register of hereditary and congenital diseases in West Ukrainian region and the sick children avoided disability.
