HEMOSTATIC FEATURES AMONG CHILDREN WITH CYANOTIC CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE

Hemostatic system among children with cyanotic congenital heart disease (CHD) has its own characteristics, because hypoxia is a significant factor in the violation of hemostasis.

The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the features of the hemostatic system healthy children and patients with cyanotic CHD under 1 year of age and a comparison of the main parameters of the hemostatic system with indicators of adults.

The review suggests that patients with cyanotic CHD, in contrast to healthy children, is characterized by hypercoagulation shifts due to vascular-platelet chain, decreased anticoagulant activity and a sharp inhibition of fibrinolytic properties of plasma.

At the same time there is a low concentration of coagulation factors and platelet count decrease. Therefore, children with cyanotic CHD form а special contingent of cardiac patients, where the knowledge of the characteristics and timely analysis of changes in the haemostatic system is very important for the proper choice of the management in the surgical treatment and postoperative period.
