PREVENTION OF ANTIBIOTIC-ASSOCIATED DIARRHEA IN CYSTIC FIBROSIS PATIENTS

The efficacy and safety of probiotic Lacidofil in prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea in 36 cystic fibrosis patients during antibacterial treatment of the respiratory tract infection were investigated. Frequency of this complication was 5.5% (95% CI 5.0–16.0%) in the main group and 28.9% (95% CI 12.0–51.0%) in the control group. It was established that Lacidofil use decreases relative risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea by 80%.
