The article analyses the state and methods of teaching selective humanitarian disciplines in medical higher education institutions. The main attention is focused on the importance and usefulness of teaching humanitarian disciplines that directly affect the formation of a medical specialist as a social person in society.

The new century requires qualitative orientation in the flow of information, achievement of fundamental knowledge in the field of professional activity and requires future doctors to have excellent mastery of professional competences and a humanitarian outlook.

Therefore, it should be noted that there is a tendency to slow down the positive motivation to study humanities as a higher education getter who has entered a medical higher education institution (HEI) is primarily focused on acquiring professional knowledge, skills and abilities. However, only a small number of them can be fluent in the language of constructive dialogue, communicate in the educational process, and successfully form professional opinion and social and public position.

In the modern world, most scholars have come to the conclusion that social and humanitarian disciplines of today provide not only knowledge that can be used in the profession, but also help  young professionals to socialise to a certain extent both in their professional team and in the social space where they live. The methods of managing modern education are somewhat behind the current challenges of the Ukrainian state, especially against the backdrop of the bloody struggle for national self-identification.

Key words: innovative teaching methods, social person, humanitarian disciplines, medical institutions of higher education.
