Background: Ukraine belongs to the countries with a high level of oncological morbidity, among which stomach cancer occupies one of the leading places according to this indicator. The population’s awareness of risk factors for stomach cancer remains at a rather low level and requires additional information on prevention. Methodology: The research was conducted on the basis of the Chernivtsi regional oncological dispensary using medical and sociological methods based on an anonymous questionnaire developed by us. Results: It was established that the population’s awareness of risk factors for the development of stomach cancer in the Chernivtsi region is quite low and requires further sanitary and educational work. Conclusion: Stomach cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed and the third most fatal diseases despite the significant efforts of oncologists in prevention.
Key words: stomach cancer, risk factors, prevention, level of knowledge.
