CLINICAL AND HEMODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF CHRONIC HEART FAILURE DUE TO ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE IN GERIATRIC PATIENTS WITH DEFICIENT BODY MASS

There were elucidated clinical and hemodynamic characteristics of 165 geriatric patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) due to stable stenocardia (men 74,3±5,9 years old) with widly range of the Ketle’s index. Geriatric patients were divided into 3 groups according to body mass index (below 25, 25-27 kg/m2 and above 27 kg/m2). The most propitious situation we found in patients with middle levels of body mass index. Patients with low body mass index compared with those with intermediate values had worse clinical, hemodynamic characteristics. These findings constitute a pathophysiological substrate for increased risk of death in geriatric men with CHF due to ischemic heart disease and deficient body mass.
