The given literary review presents definition, pathogenetic importance of oxidative stress in the development of acute pulmonary lesion syndrome in newborns, as well as the discussion concerning contemporary ideas on pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of severe respiratory failure in newborns from the position of stabilization of oxidative protein modification and lipid peroxide oxidation.
