Aim. To conduct a comparative analysis of information according to hygienic and environmental assessment study of sanitary and ecological condition of recreational waters on the example of the rivers of the basin of the Severskyi Donets within the Kharkiv region.
Materials and methods. Within the limits of the research work done at the request of MOH of Ukraine “Ecological-hygienic rationale of optimum levels of anthropogenic load on recreational areas of water basins” the evaluation of water conservation measures of the basin of the Severskyi Donets river on the basis of the requirements regulated by the applicable regulations. Water research was carried out at certain control points.
Results. During 2014 from the open water area 1060 samples were selected for sanitary-chemical indicators. The results of laboratory studies showed a deviation from regulatory requirements —173 samples, which is 16.3% (versus 9.9% in 2013).
For microbiological indicators there were investigated 1273 water samples of surface water, 179 samples of which failed to meet the regulatory requirements representing 14.1% (against 18.2% in 2013).
In 2014, in the water of the river Severskyi Donets, as in previous years, exceeding regulatory requirements in the following priority indicators: biochemical consumption of oxygen 1.8 up to 6 times, chemical oxygen demand 1.4–4.3 times, phosphate 3.2 times, sulphate 1.6 times.
