THE CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF HOPANTENIC ACID IN THE TREATMENT OF COGNITIVE DISORDERS IN CHILDREN SUFFERED FROM EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Topicality. The problem of child abuse is a global with high prevalence, variety of clinical manifestations, the difficulty of prevention and for identification, as well as a high probability of complications and death. According to statistics from the U. S. National Center frequency of child abuse in 2011 amounted to 10.7‰, while in Canada — 9.7‰. In Russia, according to the Fund to Support Children this figure in 2011 was 18.0‰. In Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs incidence of child abuse in 2011 amounted to 18.9‰.

The purpose of the study. To study efficiency of hopantenic acid as neuroprotective drugs in the treatment of cognitive deficits in children suffering from psychological stress.

Materials and methods. The study included 42 children aged 6–12 years who have suffered from various forms of violence. The children were divided into 2 groups of comparable gender and age. Study group comprised 14 boys and 7 girls (of 21 children) who received hopantenic acid in combination with psychological treatment methods of art therapy. The control group included 12 boys and 9 girls, for the treatment that used only the methods of psychological correction.

Conclusions.

1. Combination of hopantenic acid therapy and the methods of psychological treatment for children with emotional stress, reduce the symptoms of attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity.

2. The effectiveness of the combined use of hopantenic acid and psychotherapy in the complex management of children with cognitive impairment due to psychoemotional abuse has been proved.

3. Hopantenic acid is well tolerated and has no the danger of side effects.
